bigAPE Backup - Joomla 1.0.8 Issues |
|
Thursday, 20 April 2006 |
We have now completed testing our backup component on Joomla 1.0.8 under Linux and Windows and can confirm that it does indeed work.
If anyone is experiencing problems with a backup or an installation
please can you ensure that you have adequate Write permissions on the <root>/adminstrator/backups and <root>/adminstrator/components/com_babackup
folders and that your maximum script execution time and that the memory
allocation per PHP script allocated by your ISP is appropriate for the size of Mambo/Joomla
system you are attempting to backup. If you continue to have problems relating to "time out" or "memory" please contact your ISP and ask them to investigate, as server configuration isssues of this nature are out of our control.
Can we also remind the community that this is a backup solution only,
there has never been and will probably never be (due to cross platform
compatability) a "restore" function for the database (although we are open to suggestions). However, we are
currently working on a couple of enhancements which will allow for the
backup, restore and/or migration of content articles for the next release

actnow Case Study on Artistic Cornwall |
|
Thursday, 06 April 2006 |
|
actnow, the non-profit Cornwall Enterprise partnership promoting
economic development in Cornwall,
today release a Case Study on the Artist Cornwall project. Artistic
Network received part funding for the Artistic Cornwall project from
actnow grants.
"The great part of running a purely web-based business like this is
that it allows me and the other artists who use it much greater
flexibility and mobility. If I have a shoot scheduled up country
Artistic Cornwall isn’t affected because I can access the site from
anywhere. When I was in Australia with access to a broadband connection
I was still able to maintain the site"

bigAPE would like thank the community for their immense interest
in our GPL products. We were stunned with the sheer volume of response
received since we launched these components last year.
Since
the launch of our Mambo GPL components we have been overwhelmed with
work and have been involved in several commercial and charitable
projects, including a couple of major projects which have kept us out
of the OpenSource world for way too long. It is our sincere hope that
we will return to offer our support to FormHandler, Joomla and Mambo
in strength during Q2 of this year. We are specifically looking forward
to the ACL integration initiative in both Mambo and Joomla, we truly
will reach the point where the Enterprise will embrace them in full We
have recently encountered some hosting configuration issues after the
migration of hosting platform from the US to the UK. This has been
highlighted in some reviews of our component on the Joomla Extensions
site. We would like to apologise for this downtime and we are pleased
to announce that they have now been resolved. Rest
assured, as soon as we get a chance to breath we will be back in force.
Until then all of your hundreds of suggestions, contributions, thoughts
and dreams are being recorded and will be included were ever possible
in future releases. Thank you for your support and patience |
